USC's Kiffin relieved of duties

USC coach Lane Kiffin has been relieved of his head coaching duties, Trojan athletic director Pat Haden announced early Sunday on the university’s Web site.

According to the item, Haden informed Kiffin of his termination when the team’s charter arrived back in Los Angeles early Sunday morning. USC lost 62-41 to Arizona State on Saturday night.

The Trojans (3-2) have lost seven of their last 11 games, including both Pac-12 matchups this season. Kiffin’s overall record at USC is 28-15.
