University president: ND to study IOSHA report

The Notre Dame president says the university will study a state report that says the school committed six safety violations in the October death of a 20-year-old student.

Declan Sullivan was killed when the hydraulic lift he was on toppled over in high winds while he was filming football practice.

The Indiana Department of Labor says it is fining the university $77,500 for a series of safety violations.

The Rev. John Jenkins said Tuesday that Notre Dame will take any necessary steps to protect students and staff. He also repeated as he did in November that the university failed to keep Sullivan safe. Jenkins says the school remains "profoundly sorry."

Executive vice president John Affleck-Graves says the school is completing its investigation into Sullivan's death.
