CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) A University of Miami graduate has donated $1 million to the school, money that will perpetually fund a scholarship for a football player.

Scott Mueller is the CEO and co-founder of Cleveland-based Dealer Tire. He attended Miami on an academic scholarship, graduating with honors in 1985. Mueller is a well-known philanthropist in the Cleveland area, particularly through his support of the arts.

His gift is the fifth of at least $1 million given to Hurricane athletics in the past year. The donation was announced by university officials Tuesday.

Mueller calls his academic scholarship at Miami ''a tremendous break in my life and I want to make sure that I pay back that generosity by helping another student.''
