Turnovers help Stony Brook beat Fordham 28-6
NEW YORK (AP) — Jordan Gowins ran for 160 yards and a score, Donald Liotine ran 75 yards for a touchdown and Stony Brook shut down Fordham's offense and capitalized on turnovers to win 28-6 on Saturday.
Jordan Scarbrough intercepted a pass on Fordham's third play of the game and returned it 25 yards for a score. Andrew Trent recovered a fumble on a kickoff and Gowins scored two plays later on a 9-yard run for a 21-0 halftime lead.
Stony Brook (2-1) forced four turnovers and had 482 total yards while holding Fordham to 238, including minus -7 yards rushing.
Luke Medlock was 16 of 37 for 149 yards passing for Fordham (0-3), still searching for a win under new head coach Joe Conlin. Backup Tim DeMorat hit Corey Caddle for a 29-yard TD in the fourth quarter.
