Tommy Armstrong's play needs to catch up to leadership

The Nebraska Cornhuskers starting quarterback Tommy Armstrong has been described many times by his new head coach Mike Riley as a great leader and hard worker. There haven't been as many glowing comments about his ability to run the new offense which have some Husker fans a bit worried.

Here is what he had to say about he still needs to learn to become a more complete quarterback per ESPN:

"I've got a chance to understand the playbook and understand the footwork and technique and what they want out of me, Armstrong said. It's getting better. It's a lot easier. My guys expect me to know a lot, to execute the right way. They always tell me when things get bad, don't force the ball. Just try to get a couple yards and don't take a big hit."

If the Huskers are going to compete for a Big Ten West title, Armstong will have to improve his on field play and consistency to match his intangibles.
