Tiebreaker adds intrigue to Texas-Oklahoma

When Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops was asked in late July at Big 12 Media Days in Dallas about "the asterisk," no explanation was necessary.
The question was inevitable, and he was prepared.
"I know you guys would like for me to have a little quip about that and throw it all over the place," Stoops said. "I don't want to take away from the players and the programs and do that.
"I don't have anything to say about that."
He might be the only one.
In case you a) have somehow forgotten, b) were shut off from the free world or c) for some reason aren't a college football fan, here's a quick recap:
The Sooners, despite losing to rival Texas, 45-35, in October, still managed to advance to the BCS National Championship. Less than a year later, it's of little solace to Longhorn fans that OU lost to Florida — the sting of being deemed second-best, the Big 12 South title decided on a flimsy (at best) tiebreaker, still exists.
Just what one of college football's finest rivalries needs — another layer of intrigue.
The Oct. 17 clash at the Cotton Bowl, with both teams ranked in the top five and with reigning Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford and Heisman runner-up Colt McCoy back for encores, should, again, be epic.
