Tennessee assistant named Eastern Kentucky head coach

Tennessee head coach Butch Jones alluded to potential staff moves Monday and the first shakeup of his coaching staff was made that same evening, as Eastern Kentucky has named the Vols' Special Teams Coordinator and tight ends coach Mark Elder its new head coach. 

Making the news official, Eastern Kentucky released a statement Tuesday announcing the move.

"I couldn't be more excited to welcome Mark and his family to EKU," Director of Athletics Steve Lochmueller said. "Eastern Kentucky University football has a national championship tradition and I am confident Mark Elder is the coach that will bring excitement back to Colonel football and make EKU a factor again on the national stage."

Under Elder, Tennessee lead the nation in kick return yardage this season and finished second in the nation in punt return yardage. The Vols kicker was among the players to congratulate their coach on the promotion:
