Tell it to the judge: John Chavis and LSU set to meet in Baton Rouge court

Former LSU defensive coordinator John Chavis, who is currently being sued by his former employer, had his court date set for June 29th.

Chavis is arguing that the suit against him should be thrown out or put on hold until the suit he currently is pursuing against LSU is resolved. Confused yet?

According to The Advocate, Chavis will be arguing for Lis Pendens, an exception that protects against duplicate litigation existing at the same time and seeking similar, if not the same, relief.

LSU is arguing Chavis owes $400,000 for breaking his contract with the school and heading to Texas A&M. Before LSU could file against their former coach, Chavis filed against LSU for the very same reason.

How did this seemingly harmonious relationship go so wrong so quickly for Chavis and the Tigers after six successful seasons?

Just last December the two sides were talking contract extension. However Chavis would not agree to sign an extension that voided his contract in the event that Les Miles was fired, known as the "Les Miles clause".

Soon after, Chavis jumped ship to division rival Texas A&M. Chavis added fuel to the flames when he spoke of his "excitement to play for a team with great offense."

Regardless of how this plays out, November 28th should be fun, as the Aggies travel to Baton Rouge in their regular season finale.
