TCU defensive end Devonte Fields has made his first appearance of the season after halftime against Southeastern Louisiana after starting the year on a two-game suspension.

Fields, the reigning Big 12 defensive player of the year, started the second half Saturday. Since he sat for the opener against LSU last week, the sophomore still has to miss half a game to complete the suspension.

He was suspended for an unspecified violation of university or team policy during the offseason.

TCU coach Gary Patterson has indicated he wanted to get Fields acclimated to playing before the Big 12 opener at Texas Tech on Thursday night.

Fields led the Big 12 in tackles for loss last year at 18.5 and was third in sacks with 10.
