A Tennessee student says Volunteers freshman defensive end Jacques Smith hit him on the head at a bar, causing him to fall and suffer a concussion.
Smith turned himself in to police Sunday and was released on $2,000 bond after the student decided to press charges against him for assault.
According to the Knoxville Police Department on Monday, the victim told police he was kicked and punched while on the ground and received stitches on his finger after the alleged incident.
A Tennessee spokesman said Sunday there were no major injuries, and other Vols players stepped in to end the argument, which he said started because of a woman.

Coach Derek Dooley said Monday he plans handle Smith's punishment internally and declined to comment further.
