Stony Brook rallies to beat Maine 19-7

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) Stony Brook gave up a lightning-fast touchdown less than a minute into the game, but rallied to beat Maine 19-7 Saturday night.

The Seawolves (3-4, 2-1 Colonial Athletic Association) were down 7-0 after Maine's Daniel Collins connected with Jeremy Salmon for 73 yards on their second play. It was the Black Bears (2-4, 1-2) longest play from scrimmage this season.

Stony Brook stiffened and held Maine to 31 yards total offense after halftime. Kevin Fennell downed a punt at the 1, gaining field position resulting in a Przemyslaw Probek 22-yard field goal.

Davonte Anderson intercepted Collins, tying the Seawolves' D-I record of 15 interceptions.

Collins left after a sack early in the fourth quarter. Freshman Drew Belcher finished 0-for-5.

The Seawolves had been scoreless in third quarters this season until Stacey Bedell rushed in from the 24 and Bednarski hit Will Tye from the 10.

Maine punted 10 times.
