D'Onta Foreman of Texas used the best two performances of his career to overtake San Diego State's Donnel Pumphrey as the national leader in rushing average.
Foreman followed his 250-yard game against Baylor with 341 yards on 33 carries in the Longhorns' win over Texas Tech on Saturday. His season average ballooned from 157.9 yards per game to 180.8.
Pumphrey ran 21 times for 112 yards in a win at Hawaii that clinched the Mountain West Conference West Division title for the Aztecs. Pumphrey did not play in the fourth quarter for a third straight game. The 112 yards marked his second-lowest output of the season, and his average slipped from 183.6 yards per game to 175.7.
Foreman's 341 yards were the third-most in Longhorns history and the most since Ricky Williams went for 350 against Iowa State on his way to the 1998 Heisman Trophy. The junior has gone over 100 yards in 10 straight games for the longest active streak in the nation and second-longest streak in school history behind Earl Campbell's 11 in a row in 1977.
Pumphrey has had eight straight 100-yard games and 30 in his career. The senior is fifth on the FBS career rushing list with 5,853. He needs 544 more yards to match the record of 6,397 by Wisconsin's Ron Dayne from 1996-99.

GOING ALL THE WAY, AGAIN
Texas A&M's Christian Kirk ran back a punt 93 yards for a touchdown in the Aggies' loss to Mississippi State, the longest return in the nation this season and third-longest in program history. Kirk returned two punts for TDs against New Mexico State the previous week. His three punt returns this season and five in his career are school records.
GROUND GOBBLERS
Three running backs besides Foreman ran for more than 200 yards. Florida Atlantic's Devin Singletary set a school record with 252 yards on 23 carries against Rice. He had nine runs of 10 yards or longer.
UTEP's Aaron Jones went over 200 for the third time in his career, piling up 228 on 14 runs against FCS Houston Baptist. Old Dominion's Ray Lawry ran for a season-high 209 yards on 27 carries in a win over Marshall that made the Monarchs bowl-eligible in their second year in the FBS.
ON THE MONEY, MOSTLY
Washington State's Luke Falk completed 32 of 35 passes against Arizona. His 91.4-percent completion rate was the highest since Georgia's Greyson Lambert was 24 for 25 (96 percent) against South Carolina in September 2015.
COREY THE CATCHER
Western Michigan's Corey Davis set the Western Michigan record with 272 yards receiving against Ball State. He also caught three touchdowns to tie the Mid-American Conference career record of 47. Davis has 14 TD catches for the season, one behind national leader Carlos Henderson of Louisiana Tech.
TULSA SACK TIME
Tulsa recorded seven sacks against East Carolina, the Hurricane's most since a seven-sack game against UAB in 2012. Matt Linscott and Jesse Brubaker had two sacks apiece, and three other players chipped in with one each.
The seven sacks accounted for 68 yards in losses for East Carolina, which netted 38 yards rushing. That was the lowest rushing output against Tulsa since UTEP managed 31 yards on the ground in 2012.
