Pryts is a four-star safety Scout.com rates the No. 3 player in his home state, and a legacy recruit who described himself as "born a Nittany Lion" when he committed in August. His father, Ed, was a Penn State linebacker from 1979-81.

He is not the first player to drop a commitment to a Big Ten school in favor of the Cardinal in the past week.

Offensive lineman Devery Hamilton of Baltimore did so over the weekend. He was a Michigan commit.
