COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier says leading rusher Mike Davis might take part in Senior Day ceremonies when the Gamecocks close their home season against South Alabama next Saturday.

Davis is a junior who said in August he'd consider foregoing his final college year for the NFL. Davis tops South Carolina (5-5) with 875 yards and nine touchdowns.

In 2013, Davis rushed for 1,183 yards, the fourth highest single-season total in school history. With 125 yards more, Davis would be just the second South Carolina rusher with multiple 1,000-yard seasons. Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers had three consecutive years over 1,000 yards from 1978-80, capped by his Heisman Trophy season.

A year ago, junior defenders Jadeveon Clowney, Kelcy Quarles and Victor Hampton all were honored with Gamecock seniors before declaring for the NFL draft.
