Spooney leads Brown to 45-7 rout of Georgetown
John Spooney ran for two touchdowns and caught another as Brown opened its season with a 45-7 rout of Georgetown on Saturday.
The Bears (1-0) dominated from the outset, opening with a 92-yard drive capped by an 8-yard touchdown pass from Pat Donnelly to Alex Phelan. Brown led 17-0 after one quarter and 31-0 at the half.
Spooney's three scores all came in the first half on runs of 8 yards and 7 yards and a 24-yard hook-up with Donnelley. Sponney finished with 102 yards on 14 carries, leading a Brown rushing attack that totaled 268 yards. Robert Grebanc and Andrew Coke also had touchdown runs for the Bears.
The Hoyas (1-3) didn't score until the game's final minute, managing only 235 yards of total offense and just 55 yards rushing on 37 attempts.
