Sioux Falls defeats North Dakota, 28-13

Lorenzo Brown passed for three touchdowns and ran for another as the defending NAIA national champions won 28-13 over North Dakota, a member of the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision.

The Cougars (7-0) scored after receiving the opening kickoff and never looked back against North Dakota (3-3).

Brown threw scoring strikes of 7 yards to Scott LeBrun, 12 yards to Brad Thielen and 32 yards to Alex Anderson in taking a 21-6 halftime lead. North Dakota had two deep drives stopped, leading to a pair of Brandon Hellevang field goals.

Jake Landry tossed a 21-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Konrath on the second half?s opening possession to pull the Fighting Sioux closer. But Sioux Falls needed only four plays on its ensuing possession to regain its 15-point lead, with Brown running the final 5 yards. That was it for the scoring, with the Cougars later having a 16-play drive that erased more than 9 minutes from the clock.

Brown ran 19 times for 100 yards, many of them on scrambles out of the pocket, and completed 20 of 33 passes for 237 yards to account for most of the Cougars' 360 net yards.

North Dakota also gained 360 yards, but it suffered from three turnovers and 103 yards in penalties.
