Sandusky asks court to return bail cash

Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky asked a judge Thursday to return $50,000 in cash to his wife and release their home, which was put up as collateral for $200,000 bail.

His lawyer, Joe Amendola, wants an order directing court officials to release the money and the claim on their home to Dottie Sandusky.

Sandusky, 68, has been in a county jail since his June conviction on 45 counts of child sexual abuse against 10 boys, some of them on campus.

He is expected to get a lengthy state prison term when sentenced next week, but he maintains his innocence and Amendola has said he will appeal.

Before the conviction, Sandusky had been confined to his suburban State College home. As an inmate at the Centre County Correctional Facility, Sandusky has been isolated from the general population of inmates.
