San Diego beats Stetson to clinch share of Pioneer title

SAN DIEGO (AP) Anthony Lawrence threw for 314 yards and four touchdowns and San Diego cruised to a 42-7 victory over Stetson on Saturday to clinch a share of the Pioneer League title.

Jonah Hodges had 142 yards rushing and a score for the Toreros (8-1, 7-0), who have a half-game lead over Dayton atop the league. The Toreros can clinch the league championship outright with a win at Campbell next Saturday.

Ross Dwelley had 19 catches for 142 yards and a touchdown. Justin Priest had two TD catches, Hodges caught one touchdown pass, and Jereke Armstrong ran for another score for San Diego.

Donald Payne scored on an 84-yard fumble return for Stetson (4-6, 2-5).

The Toreros held Stetson to 79 yards of offense. The Hatters were 0 for 12 in third-down conversions, and their time of possession was just 19 minutes.
