Richard Sincere rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns, and Sam Houston State broke open the Battle of the Piney Woods rivalry game in the second half, beating Stephen F. Austin 45-10 on Saturday at Reliant Stadium.

Tim Flanders also scored twice on the ground, and Brian Bell threw two long touchdown passes for the Bearkats (5-0, 2-0 Southland Conference).

Jordan Wiggs got the Lumberjacks (1-5, 0-2) on the board first with a 41-yard field goal in the second quarter, but it was all SHSU after that. Bell found Torrance Williams for a 49-yard score before halftime and Keith Blanton for a 55-yarder early in the third quarter before the Bearkats' running game took over.

The Lumberjacks' Brady Attaway threw a 7-yard touchdown to Corde Roberson late in the fourth quarter. Attaway threw for 251 yards but was intercepted four times, and Stephen F. Austin managed just 23 yards rushing.
