Sam Houston runs to 38-31 win over Cent. Arkansas

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) Keshawn Hill ran for 242 yards and two touchdowns to lead Sam Houston State to a 38-31 victory over Central Arkansas on Saturday.

The victory tied Sam Houston (8-4, 7-1 Southland) with Southeastern Louisiana (9-3, 7-1) atop the conference standings.

Jared Johnson, who finished with 191 yards passing, hit LaDarius Brown on a 52-yard scoring strike to tie the score at 21 with 1:35 remaining in the first half. The Bearkats scored the next 17 points to hold a 38-21 advantage going into the fourth.

Central Arkansas (6-6, 5-3) scored early in the period when Ryan Howard hit Joe Carmical from the 5. Eddie Camara added a 39-yard field goal with 3:02 remaining.

The Bearkats controlled the ball from that point. SHSU rolled up 527 total yards, gaining 336 on the ground.

Howard threw for four touchdowns and 324 yards to lead the Bears.
