Rutgers responds to the GoFundMe campaign for Kyle Flood's buyout

With the Rutgers football team having been blown out in three straight games, fans seem to be getting restless.
That includes one fan who started a GoFundMe campaign hoping to raise enough money to help the school offset any buyout the athletics department would face if it fired Flood in the next three-plus years
Whether it was tongue-in-cheek or not, the action has gotten the attention of the university, which released a statement on the matter Monday.
There is an unauthorized GoFundMe campaign (“Fire Coach Kyle Flood”) that purports to be raising money on behalf of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. This unauthorized campaign is wholly unrelated to, and not endorsed by, the Rutgers University Foundation. Rutgers University and the Rutgers University Foundation will not accept any money donated to this campaign. The Rutgers University Foundation has advised GoFundMe of the inappropriate nature of the campaign and requested its removal from the site. The campaign organizer does not have the consent of the Rutgers University Foundation to publish its name or Tax ID number for any purpose.
Flood and the Scarlet Knights are set to face Nebraska this weekend in a game that figures to knock one team out of eligibility for postseason play.
According to NJ.com, Flood's buyout is $1.4 million if he is fired before February 2019.
