Rutgers University officials said Sunday it was an accidental fall that left a 20-year-old man in a critical condition following a football game Saturday, the Asbury Park Press reported.
Nicholas Amabile, of Florham Park, N.J., suffered serious injuries after falling down a flight of stairs at Rutgers Stadium in Piscataway during Rutgers' game against Syracuse.
School officials were yet to release details on what caused the fall to happen, but said the investigation into the incident had come to a close.
"There's no indication that there was any kind of a push," said Rutgers spokesman E.J. Miranda.
Amabile, who had no apparent affiliation with the university, remained in a critical condition Sunday night at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
