David Bailiff is expected to return as Rice’s head coach for another season, a source told FOX Sports on Tuesday morning.
The 58-year-old Texan has been the Owls’ head coach since 2007 and led the team to a 3-9 mark this fall. He is 56-69 in his 10 seasons and has suffered consecutive losing seasons. However, Bailiff coached the Owls to 18 total wins during the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
Bailiff was twice honored by his colleagues as C-USA Coach of the Year (2008 and 2013). In 2013, he led the Owls to their first outright conference championship in 56 years.
