Robert Bentsen threw three touchdown passes as Rhode Island beat Delaware 38-34 on Saturday for the first time since 2002.

Anthony Baskerville had a career-high 147 yards receiving and a touchdown. Brandon Johnson-Farrell had 100 yards receiving and two touchdowns for Rhode Island (2-5, 1-3 Colonial Athletic Association).

Both teams held leads in the first half, which ended in an 18-18 tie. Rhode Island grabbed the lead for good at 28-21 on Johnson-Farrell's second score of the day, a 13-yard touchdown pass from Bentsen with 14:47 to play in the game. Deontray Johnson, who rushed for 122 yards, scored on a 12-yard run to give the Rams their largest lead at 35-21 with 11:21 remaining in the game.

Tim Donnelly, who passed for 194 yards for Delaware (4-4, 2-3), threw his second touchdown pass of the game, a 36-yarder to Rob Jones, as time expired for the final margin.
