Reports surfaced Monday that Miami Jackson High School will make history, as it is set to hire reality TV star Lakatriona Brunson as its head football coach.

If true, Brunson would become the first female high school head football coach in Florida history. Brunson is known as "Bernice" from the truTV series South Beach Tow.

The news was first reported by Peter Aziz of CanesInSight.com:

The Miami Herald is reporting that "no official hire has been made," and that school officials told the Herald that internet reports have "jumped the gun."

Brunson was an accomplished track and field athlete at Miami Northwestern and played basketball at Tennessee State. Her football experience comes from the time she spent playing for the Miami Fury in the Independent Women's Football League.

Aziz also noted that Luther Campbell would serve as Brunson's assistant head coach. Campbell, the front man of popular '80s rap group, 2 Live Crew, is ingrained in the high school football community. He has recently spent time at Miami Central, Miami Northwestern and at Miami Norland, as defensive coordinator.
