Boise State has informed the Mountain West Conference that it will be leaving after the 2012-13 school year, according to multiple reports.
UNLV president Neal Smatresk told the Las Vegas Review Journal that he received Boise State's withdrawal letter.
Boise State will forfeit $2.5 million as an exit penalty but will not face additional penalties because it beat the midnight deadline Saturday to withdraw.
Boise State was required to beat the deadline to avoid paying a $5 million penalty had it failed to notify the MWC of its intentions past June 30.
