Report: Tanner McEvoy wins Wisconsin starting QB job
Junior Tanner McEvoy has won the starting quarterback job at Wisconsin, multiple sources tell the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel.
Wisconsin has not confirmed the move, but if true, McEvoy will be under center instead of senior Joel Stave when the Badgers open vs. LSU in Houston, Texas.
Fans and media likely won't receive confirmation until that game on Aug. 30, according to the Journal Sentinel:
"Both those kids are still right there," (head coach Gary) Andersen told reporters on Monday, after the team's second scrimmage of preseason camp. "Like I said a long time ago, we may know who the starter is, but we're not going to say who the starter is until we jog out on the field for the LSU game.
"There's no big announcement."
McEvoy played juco football for Arizona Western College in the 2012 season before playing 10 games at safety last year for the Badgers, collecting 27 total tackles and one interception.
The New Jersey product was a three-star recruit in the Class of 2011.
