Report: Harris' car rented by employee

University of Oregon cornerback Cliff Harris, who was cited for driving 118 miles per hour on a suspended license, was behind the wheel of a rental car paid for by a university employee, KEZI-TV reported Tuesday.
The unnamed employee told KEZI she handed the keys to the 2011 Nissan Altima to a friend of the Ducks' All-American and was unaware Harris would be driving.
"So, I rented the car for my own purposes on Friday. Cliff Harris and his licensed friend, who showed me his license, asked to borrow it and paid me the full amount in cash that I paid for the rental," said the woman, who agreed to speak to KEZI, on condition of anonymity.
NCAA rules prohibit university employees or representatives from providing student-athletes "extra benefits or services, including, but not limited to: The use of an automobile."
The woman, who claimed she was not Harris' girlfriend and was not a student at Oregon, just an employee, said she has proof of two bank deposits matching the car's total rental price.
According to KEZI, Hertz Rent-A-Car confirmed the name on the rental agreement matches the station's source.
Oregon Sports Information Director Dave Williford told KEZI the school is aware a female, who was not in the car at the time Harris was pulled over, rented the car, but could not confirm whether she worked for the university.
Harris, 20, was stopped by Oregon State Police at 4:30am local time Sunday just outside Albany, 70 miles south of Portland. He reportedly had three passengers in the car, including two Ducks' football players, who have not been named.
The 2010 consensus All-America selection faces a $1,148 fine for driving over 100 mph, police said, according to The Register-Guard.
Harris led the Pac-10 last season with six interceptions and excelled as the Ducks' punt returner, with four touchdowns and six all-purpose plays of 60 yards or more.
