Report: Addazio next Temple coach

Temple University is expected to hire University of Florida offensive coordinator Steve Addazio as its next head football coach, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Wednesday.
Addazio would become the replacement for Al Golden, who left Temple earlier this month to take the head role at the University of Miami.
Addazio, 51, has spent the last six seasons moving up the coaching ranks for the Gators. He has served as the team’s offensive coordinator and offensive line coach during the past two campaigns.
But his long-term status at Florida became less certain after Gators head man Urban Meyer abruptly retired at the end of the season and his replacement, Will Muschamp, may have wanted to bring in his own staff.
Addazio has 25 years of coaching experience, according to the Gators’ website. He has coached in 10 bowl games, including six BCS games in the last 14 years.
His offense ranked first in the Southeastern Conference in 2009, a year the Gators went 13-1 for the second straight season.
Addazio has large shoes to fill at Temple. Golden spent five seasons rebuilding the long struggling football program, leading the Owls to winning seasons in each of the past two years after a 1-11 finish in his first year.
Golden took Temple to its first bowl game in 30 years in 2009. The team narrowly missed out on a bowl bid this year after an 8-4 finish.
