Platteville ends La Crosse jinx

La Crosse, Wis., had been a dry town for the University of Wisconsin-Platteville football team since 1980.
But Lee Vlasak and a stiff Pioneer defense ended the drought Saturday.
Vlasak rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns and the Pioneers held the Eagles without a touchdown for the first time since 1973 while trampling UW-La Crosse, 21-6, at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The victory was Platteville's first in La Crosse in 30 years.
Nick Anderson (a sharp 15-for-21 passing for 154 yards) hit Jeff Bracken for a 20-yard second-quarter score that gave Platteville a 7-3 lead. Vlasak reached the end zone on TD runs of 45 and 4 yards in the second half, giving the converted wide receiver seven scores in the last two weeks.
Nick Snyder sacked La Crosse quarterback Nick Anker three times as the Pioneers (4-2, 2-1) stayed in WIAC title contention.
La Crosse fell to 1-5, 1-2.
Dubuque 35, Simpson 7 - At Chalmers Field: Wyatt Hanus and DeMacus Fleming conspired to get the Spartans back on track and executed the plan to a T.
