Penn State has opened as a slight underdog to Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship.

The Penn State Nittany Lions earned an improbable spot in the Big Ten Championship by reeling off eight consecutive wins and finishing the season with a record of 10-2. Penn State’s upset victory over Ohio State in October ensured that the Nittany Lions would represent the East instead of the Buckeyes.

Wisconsin also finished the the season with a record of 10-2. The Badgers had a great regular season and only lost to Michigan and Ohio State. An early-season win over LSU set the tone for things to come.

With a great Penn State offense and a tough Wisconsin defense, picking a line on this game could be tough. Wisconsin opened as a slight  favorite over the Nittany Lions according to the oddsmakers in Vegas. As of the writing of this the Badgers are favored by three points.

It’s not surprising to see the Nittany Lions picked as underdogs. Penn State has flown under the radar all season, and what they have done over the past two months is unbelievable.

After getting blown out by Michigan in September, it seemed that James Franklin and his team was set for another season of mediocracy. However, the return of some key players on defense and the quick development of the new offense has helped to get the Nittany Lions into the position they are in now.

The winner of the Big Ten Championship could have a path to the College Football Playoff.
