Penn State hires Anthony Midget to coach safeties

Penn State has hired Anthony Midget to coach safeties, filling out its coaching staff after John Butler was promoted to defensive coordinator.
Midget comes to Happy Valley after a brief stint at Marshall, where he had been named a defensive assistant in late January. Previously, Midget was an assistant for five years at Georgia State, most recently serving as defensive coordinator last season.
Midget and Butler will split secondary duties, with Butler continuing to coach cornerbacks while serving as defensive coordinator. Butler was promoted after Ted Roof left after one season to take the defensive coordinator job at Georgia Tech in his home state.
A native of Florida, Midget was a three-year starter at cornerback at Virginia Tech. The NFL's Atlanta Falcons drafted him in the fifth round in 2000.
