WACO, Texas (AP) Oklahoma State took the redshirt off highly touted freshman quarterback Mason Rudolph to start in place of Daxx Garman for Saturday night's game at No. 6 Baylor.

Garman was in uniform on the sideline, but wearing a baseball camp instead of his helmet.

The Cowboys offered no reason for Garman not starting.

Rudolph finished high school early and enrolled at Oklahoma State last spring, going through spring drills and the Cowboys' offseason program. He threw for 4,377 yards with 41 touchdowns and seven interceptions as a senior last season at Northwest High School in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
