Notre Dame QB Malik Zaire practicing, 'well ahead of schedule'

Notre Dame will have a heck of a quarterback competition in 2016.

Fighting Irish junior quarterback Malik Zaire is back practicing, taking 7-on-7 reps, Brian Kelly said Saturday. Zaire will not play in the Fiesta Bowl against Ohio State, but Kelly is incredibly impressed with the progress the quarterback is making.

Zaire missed most of the 2015 season with a broken ankle and was replaced by DeShone Kizer, who led Notre Dame to a 10-2 season.
