Northern Colorado pulls away from Houston Baptist, 34-10

HOUSTON (AP) Trae Riek ran for 75 yards on 12 carries with a touchdown, and Ellis Onic added a 71-yard punt return for a touchdown to help Northern Colorado beat Houston Baptist 34-10 on Saturday night.

Riek led Northern Colorado (2-0) in receiving with 50 yards on two catches. Jacob Knipp added 77 yards on 8-of-12 passing, including a 19-yard touchdown strike to Stephen Miller.

Northern Colorado never trailed, taking a 13-3 lead at halftime, and a 27-3 lead after three quarters. The lone Houston Baptist touchdown came with 11:15 left in the game on a 19-yard touchdown pass from Max Staver to Ethan Fry.

Staver struggled much of the game for the Huskies (1-1), finishing just 10 of 29 for 122 yards passing with one touchdown and an interception.
