North Carolina Central defense stops Hampton 47-13

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) Malcolm Bell accounted for three touchdowns and the North Carolina Central defense stymied Hampton for a 47-13 victory on Saturday.
NCCU (5-5, 4-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic) held a 14-7 lead with 5:24 remaining in the first half, when the defense garnered two touchdowns in 26 seconds. Mykael Martin blocked a Christian Faber-Kinney punt and ran it in from the 20 for a score. Three plays later Cameron Hughes intercepted Jerrell Antoine and returned it 55 yards for a 27-7 lead with 1:57 remaining in the half. Eric Fenton added a 28-yard field goal for a 30-7 advantage at the break.
Hampton (2-8, 1-5) suffered three lost fumbles and two interceptions in the game.
Bell, who opened the scoring with a 21-yard pass to Quentin Atkinson, threw for 150 yards and two touchdowns. He ran for 30 yards and another score.
Antoine led Hampton as he passed for 171 yards and one touchdown.
