The top small-college defensive player of the year will be honored with the Cliff Harris Award.
The Little Rock Touchdown Club was announced the new award Tuesday for players in the FCS, Division II, III and the NAIA.
Harris played at Des Arc High School and Ouachita Baptist University. The free safety was passed over in the 1970 draft but signed as a free agent with the Dallas Cowboys and played in five Super Bowls.
Harris said players from small schools deserve more recognition and that he was happy to have his name on the award.
