NCAA 'pleased' lawsuit thrown out

The NCAA says it's ''exceedingly pleased'' that a federal judge has thrown out a lawsuit filed against it by Pennsylvania's governor over penalties against Penn State related to Jerry Sandusky.

College sports' governing body responded Thursday, hours after U.S. Middle District Judge Yvette Kane dismissed the anti-trust complaint. She calls Gov. Tom Corbett's argument ''a Hail Mary pass.''

Donald Remy, the NCAA's chief legal officer, says the organization hopes the ruling will help heal divides caused by the Sandusky scandal.

In January, Corbett sued to overturn the $60 million fine, four-year bowl ban and other penalties imposed over the school's handling of Sandusky complaints.

Sandusky, the school's former defensive coach, was convicted last year of 45 counts of child sexual abuse and is in prison.
