MTSU suspends QB, asking NCAA to reinstate him

Middle Tennessee is suspending quarterback Dwight Dasher for accepting a $1,500 loan in violation of the NCAA's amateurism rules.

However, university officials are also asking the NCAA to reinstate him.

Athletic director Chris Massaro issued a statement just before a news conference Friday. Dasher led the Blue Raiders to a 10-3 record last season and a set a bowl rushing record with 201 yards rushing.

Dasher will be allowed to practice with the Blue Raiders, however, Middle Tennessee expects him to miss some games.

The Blue Raiders open the season Sept. 2 hosting Minnesota.
