Austin Witmer's 22-yard field goal in the third quarter was the only score as Missouri State dealt a blow to North Dakota State's FCS playoff hopes with a 3-0 victory on Saturday.

On a sunny, 57-degree day, the Bears (5-6, 4-4 Missouri Valley) became the first team in five years to hold the Bison (7-4, 4-4) scoreless.

North Dakota State, which had a three-game winning streak snapped, will learn its fate when the 20-team postseason field is announced on Sunday morning.

Chris Douglas rushed for 122 yards on 19 carries for Missouri State.

The Bison were held to eight first downs and 120 yards of offense and reached the Bears' side of the field just three times. North Dakota State's only serious scoring chance came when it advanced to the Missouri State 21 in the third quarter, but Ryan Jastram missed a 38-yard field goal attempt.

Running back D.J. McNorton, a 1,000-yard rusher this season for the Bison, was held to 38 yards on 16 carries.
