Michigan QB: 'I've been called the N-word so many times this year'

The Michigan Wolverines are struggling through another mediocre season at 3-4 heading into this weekend's game against Michigan State.
Part of the issue has been subpar quarterback play from fifth-year senior Devin Gardner, who entered the year as the starter, and backup Shane Morris, who got the start against Minnesota on Sept. 27.
Gardner, in particular, has received criticism from fans, as he's thrown more interceptions (eight) than touchdowns (six) in a rough year so far.
That doesn't excuse the hateful and racist criticism Gardner says he's received from fans over email and social media -- including being called the N-word.
"I've been called the N-word so many times this year," Gardner told the Detroit News. "One guy told me I was the N-word, and said, 'I know N-words can't play quarterback.' And I was like, 'Are we not past this?' Say what you want about my skill, but come on."
