Miami RB Duke Johnson out for year

Miami running back Duke Johnson will miss the remainder of the 14th-ranked Hurricanes' season with a broken right ankle.
Johnson was hurt in the third quarter of Saturday night's 41-14 loss at No. 3 Florida State. He got hit just behind the line of scrimmage, his right leg bent awkwardly and then a mass of bodies landed atop him.Coach Al Golden on Sunday confirmed that Johnson was out for the season.
Miami (7-1, 3-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) still controls the league's Coastal Division and could move a big step closer to wrapping up that title with a win this coming weekend against Virginia Tech.
But once again, the buzzword in Miami is adversity. After the NCAA scandal ended, the Hurricanes hoped the worst was over. Instead, now a new problem arises.
Johnson got hurt on a fourth-and-2 play in Florida State territory late in the third quarter, when Miami was trying to cut into what was then a 35-14 deficit. It will be his final carry of a season where he finished with 920 yards, making him the second Miami back in history with consecutive 900-yard seasons. Edgerrin James is the other.
Johnson's injury is the second significant one to rob Miami's offense of a key skill player this season. The Hurricanes are still without wide receiver Phillip Dorsett, who partially tore a ligament in his left knee last month and is expected to remain sidelined for at least a couple more weeks.
With Johnson out, Miami figures to use running back Dallas Crawford in the feature-back role going forward.
''There's a lesson in every loss.. Learn from it.. and move on,'' Crawford wrote on Twitter early Sunday.
