Before Dwayne Johnson became “The Rock” and achieved international fame on the silver screen and in the wrestling ring, he was a University of Miami football player.

Johnson played defensive tackle for The U in the early 1990s, and he remained an active member of the university community after his graduation in 1995. He donated $1 million, reportedly the largest former student contribution in the school’s history, in 2007 to help renovate Miami’s athletic facility, and the university showed its thanks by renaming its football locker room in his honor.
