An 83-year-old member of the chain crew for Northwestern's game between No. 12 Michigan on Saturday night was hospitalized after having a heart attack.

Fred Gilson, a member of Northwestern's chain crew for 47 straight season, had the heart attack about 45 minutes before the start of the game, Wildcats spokesman Mike Wolf said.

Gilston was taken to Evanston Hospital by ambulance.

His condition wasn't released.
