Louisville Football: Reaction to "A Season with Florida State Football"

After watching Showtime’s, “A Season with Florida State Football”, there were three things that we noticed from Louisville football’s appearance on the episode.
Louisville football played their best game in some time last Saturday with their 63-20 dominating win over the second ranked Florida State Seminoles. Lamar Jackson was even better than advertised and the Seminoles had no answer for him all afternoon.
If you are a Louisville fan, you know how amazing last Saturday felt and how much it must have stunk if you are apart of the FSU faithful. However, Showtime gave us a great in-depth look at how the Seminoles handled the beating from Louisville.
After taking a look at Louisville’s appearance in Showtime’s “A Season with Florida State” football, there were a few things that were noticeable about both the Cardinals and Seminoles.
1. Louisville football is the real deal
It was pretty clear in FSU’s preparation and anticipation of this game that they knew Louisville was going to be one of their tougher games of the season. Lamar Jackson has given the national media someone to talk about non-stop, but here have been a lot of fans who didn’t give him much credit before the Florida State game. You could tell that none of those people were in Tallahassee preparing for the game.
I truly believe that Jackson got the Seminoles’ best defensive effort last Saturday. Yes, Derwin James being injured made a difference. However, you need to ask yourself if he would have made that big of a difference in a 63-20 game? I don’t think so.
2. Jimbo Fisher is a great college football coach
Feel free to disagree, but I thought that Fisher handled his players very well after getting destroyed by Louisville. You just never know how much a loss like that can forever hurt a player’s mindset. Not to mention that there are still nine games left in this 2016 season. Florida State is still a good team, but they need to find a way to forget about that loss.

As fans, there is always an expectation that coaches are going to destroy their players at halftime or after the game if they lost. Mostly, because that’s what we would all be doing if we were that angry with our favorite teams. Seeing how Fisher handled these college kids was a great reminder of how important it is to keep developing and building up the student-athlete.
He needs these guys to compete for the rest of the season and he handled it with his guys as well as expected.
3. Deondre Francois still has a long way to go
To anyone that still thinks that Francois is on the same level as Lamar Jackson, please go ahead and prepare yourselves because you won’t like this. If there was ever a game for two quarterbacks to separate themselves from the other, this was it. One quarterback excelled and the other, well he looked overcome by the moment.
Louisville’s defense threw everything that they could at Francois and he had no idea what to do. It must be hard to go three and out, only to watch Jackson running for another touchdown. As the gap became wider, Francois found himself alone on the bench. Fisher did a great job of going over and encouraging his QB, but that’s not what you want to see if you are an FSU fan.
At the end of the day, we must remember that these are college kids. They will mess up and they will rise up.
The good news for Louisville fans is that their kids are soaring and looking for more.
