Liberty 44, Charleston Southern 20

Quarterback Mike Brown threw for 310 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 93 yards and two scores to lead Liberty past Charleston Southern 44-20 in a Big South Conference opener on Saturday.
Liberty (4-2, 1-0) jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the second quarter after a 1-yard touchdown pass from Brown to SirChauncey Holloway and a 40-yard scoring strike to Pat Kelly. Matt Bevins kicked a 26-yard field goal to give the Flames a 16-7 halftime lead.
Andrew Trudnowski threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to B.J. Hackworth to pull the Buccaneers (2-3, 0-1) to within two points, 16-14, before the start of the fourth quarter.
Brown ran for two scores and threw a 29-yard touchdown to Chris Summers with 28 seconds remaining in the final period.
Charleston Southern wideout Gerald Stevenson had a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the loss.
