PISCATWAY, N.J. -- Former Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand and former Penn State player Adam Taliaferro will be the honorary captains when the Scarlet Knights play their first Big Ten game against the Nittany Lions on Sept. 13.

LeGrand suffered a spinal cord injury making a tackle during a game in 2010 that left him paralyzed below the shoulders. He is still wheelchair bound, but has since graduated from Rutgers and now works as an analyst on the football team's radio broadcasts.

Taliaferro, a New Jersey native like LeGrand, suffered a severe spinal cord injury making a tackle during a game in 2000. He, too, was left paralyzed but has since made a full recovery.

LeGrand and Taliaferro will take part in the pregame coin toss at High Point Solutions Stadium in Piscataway.
