Lawson, San Jose State top UNLV 34-24

Jarrod Lawson ran for a career-high 187 yards and a touchdown as San Jose State topped UNLV 34-24 on Saturday.
San Jose State (5-3, 4-1 Mountain West) raced to an early 14-0 lead with touchdowns on its first two possessions. Lawson then added a 31-yard score in the second quarter as the Spartans took a 24-3 lead into halftime.
UNLV (5-4, 3-2) cut the lead to 24-17 late in the third but Thomas Tucker ran for a 37-yard touchdown with 10:49 to play to extend SJSU's lead to 31-17. UNLV once again cut the deficit to 7 with eight minutes remaining but the Spartans responded with a drive that lasted over five minutes and culminated in a field goal.
SJSU finished with 312 yards rushing while UNLV managed just 86 yards on the ground.
