David Last missed, then made a field goal in the final seconds to give the University of San Diego a 35-33 victory over Marist Saturday.

Trailing 33-32, Mason Mills, who threw for three touchdowns and 349 yards, marched the Toreros (4-2, 3-0 Pioneer League) 64 yards to set up the game-winning field goal from 33 yards out with 5 seconds remaining. Last missed it but Marist (3-3, 2-1) was called for running into the kicker. Last then booted through a 28-yard field goal to give San Diego the win and a share of first place in the Pioneer League.

A safety in the first quarter ended up being the difference in the score as Blake Oliaro tackled Marist quarterback Chuckie Looney in the end zone. Looney passed for 298 yards and five touchdowns, a single game record for a Marist player.
