Lafayette 17, William & Mary 14

Andrew Shoop passed for 189 yards and a touchdown and Lafayette held off William & Mary 17-14 Saturday night in a rain-interrupted non-conference game.
The Leopards, 1-0, also relied on the running of Vaughn Hebron. He gained 66 yards, 14 coming on the game's first touchdown in the first quarter for a 7-0 Lafayette lead. The Leopards would never trail.
In the second quarter, William & Mary (0-2) got a 28-yard scoring pass from quarterback Michael Graham to Tre McBride. It was the first of McBride's two touchdowns. After halftime, Lafayette regained the lead for good on Shoop's 18-yard scoring pass to Mike Duncan.
In the fourth quarter, Ethan Swerdlow gave the Leopards some breathing room with a 34-yard field goal. Raphael Ortiz, the Tribe's second quarterback of the night, threw a 32-yard scoring pass to McBride with 1:48 left. But Lafayette ran out the clock.
